American flame retardant material standard is ANSI/UL-94-1985 standard
There are five types of UL94 tests:
1. Class B horizontal burning test
2. Vertical burning test of 94V-0, 94V-1, 94V-2
3. 94 5-V vertical burning test
4. Flame spread index test using a radiant panel (not specified here according to ASTM E 162)
5. 94VTM-0, 94VTM-1, 94VTM-2 vertical burning test (VTM refers to very thin materials not introduced here)
It is now described as follows:
1.94HB level horizontal burning test method
In this test, a strip sample having a length of 127 mm, a width of 12.7 mm, a maximum thickness of 12.7 mm, and a minimum thickness of 3.05 mm was used. Perform in a non-ventilated test chamber.
Grade 94HB material, when the sample thickness is 12.7mm, the burning speed on the 76.2mm gauge distance is not more than 38.1mm/min, or the sample thickness is less than 3.05mm, the burning speed is not more than 38.1mm/min or The combustion must be stopped before reaching the 102 mm mark.
Vertical combustion test method of 2.94V-0, 94V-1, 94V-2
The vertical burning test in UL94 determines the polymer material as four grades V-2, V-1, V-0 and 5-V according to the test time of the sample, whether the droplets ignite the test results of cotton wool, etc. Level 2 is the lowest flame retardant grade, and grade 5-V is the highest flame retardant grade.
First introduce the 94V-0, 94V-1, 94V-2 test methods.
The test strip was 127 mm long, 12.7 mm wide and 12.7 mm thick. In a non-ventilated test chamber. The upper end of the specimen (6.4 mm) was clamped with a clamp on the stent and held perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the specimen. The lower end of the sample is 9.5 mm from the lamp tip and 305 mm from the surface of the dried cotton wool. The Bunsen burner is ignited and adjusted to produce a 19mm high blue flame, the Bunsen burner flame is placed at the lower end of the sample, ignited for 10s, then the flame is removed (at least 152mm away from the sample), and the sample is marked with flame Burning time. If the flame of the sample is extinguished within 30 s after removing the flame, the Bunsen burner must be moved again under the sample, the sample is ignited for 10 seconds, then the Bunsen burner flame is removed again, and the flame burning of the sample is recorded. And the duration of the flameless combustion. If there is a smoke in the sample, let it fall into the 305mm cotton wool under the sample to see if it ignites the absorbent cotton. If the cotton wool is on fire, the factors should be considered when rating.
